POSITION OVERVIEW

The Commercial Door Service Specialist is tasked with executing both preventative and corrective maintenance, along with routine and urgent services on commercial doors across various facilities.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conducts work in alignment with established protocols and standards.
  • Adheres to all internal and external regulations, including environmental, health, safety, and fire protection guidelines.
  • Performs regular inspections and preventative maintenance on commercial doors and associated hardware.
  • Offers insights on conditions, deficiencies, and recommendations for improvements and repairs.
  • Responds to both routine and urgent service requests efficiently.
  • Diagnoses and resolves issues related to commercial doors and their hardware.
  • Undertakes repairs, replacements, and installations of door hardware components.
  • Maintains accurate records of resolutions, logs, and service maintenance management, ensuring compliance with quality and contractual obligations.
  • Monitors and reports the status of maintenance tasks through appropriate logs and service management systems.
  • Ensures all work is performed in accordance with corporate and legislative policies, procedures, and guidelines pertaining to environmental, health, and safety standards.
  • Responsible for the upkeep of all assigned tools and coordinates repairs or replacements as necessary.
  • Performs additional duties as required.

WORK REQUIREMENTS

  • Availability to work shifts, be on-call, and respond to emergencies as needed.
  • Willingness to utilize personal protective equipment during work activities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

MINIMUM EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent.

JOB-RELATED EXPERIENCE: A minimum of three to five years of relevant experience.

Knowledge & Skills

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in the maintenance and repair of commercial doors.
  • High school diploma along with trades training and certification is advantageous.
  • Proficient in adhering to and executing established processes and practices.
  • Capable of maintaining and repairing mechanical and electrical systems related to doors and door hardware.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities to address commercial door issues effectively.
  • Committed to maintaining a strong focus on environmental, health, and safety standards while performing work.
  • Excellent client-service orientation with a high sense of urgency.
  • Effective communication skills for data relay, exchange, feedback, and clarification purposes.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Certification from the Canadian Door Institute is considered an asset.
