About the Role

At BGIS, we are seeking a skilled Commercial Door Maintenance Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our facilities management team, you will be responsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance, routine and on-demand services on commercial doors for multiple facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform work in accordance with established processes and practices.
  • Comply with all internal and external requirements, including environmental, health and safety, and fire protection regulations.
  • Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance on commercial doors and related hardware.
  • Provide observations on conditions and deficiencies, and suggest enhancements and repairs.
  • Respond to routine and on-demand service requests.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve commercial door and related hardware issues.
  • Repair, replace, and install door hardware components.
  • Record resolution data and ensure that work completed meets quality and contract response requirements.
  • Ensure that work is performed in compliance with corporate and legislated policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines related to environmental, health and safety, and other applicable requirements.
  • Maintain all assigned tools and arrange for repair and replacement as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Requirements

  • Must be able to work shifts, be on-call, and be available to respond to emergencies.
  • Must be willing to wear personal protective equipment.

Education, Job-Related Years of Experience, and Qualifications

Minimum Education: High school education.

Job-Related Experience: More than three years up to five years.

Knowledge and Skills

  • 3 to 5 years of commercial door maintenance and repair work experience.
  • High school diploma plus trades training and certification, an asset.
  • Ability to adhere to and properly execute established processes and practices.
  • Ability to maintain and repair mechanical and electrical systems relating to doors and door hardware components.
  • Strong troubleshooting and resolution skills to resolve commercial door issues.
  • Possesses a strong environmental, health, and safety awareness to perform work in a safe manner.
  • Strong client-service orientation with a high sense of urgency.
  • Effective communication skills for data relay, exchange, feedback, and clarification.

Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation

  • Canadian Door Institute Certification, an asset.
