POSITION OVERVIEW
The Commercial Door Technician plays a vital role in executing both preventative and corrective maintenance, along with routine and urgent services for commercial doors across various facilities.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Execute tasks in alignment with established protocols and practices.
- Adhere to all internal and external regulations, including environmental, health and safety, and fire protection standards.
- Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance on commercial doors and associated hardware.
- Provide insights on conditions, deficiencies, and recommendations for improvements and repairs.
- Address routine and urgent service requests promptly.
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to commercial doors and their hardware.
- Repair, replace, and install door hardware components as necessary.
- Document resolution data in applicable logs and ensure service maintenance management records are up to date.
- Track, monitor, and report the status of maintenance tasks within the relevant logs.
- Ensure compliance with corporate and legislative policies, procedures, and guidelines concerning environmental, health and safety standards.
- Maintain all assigned tools and coordinate repairs or replacements as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
WORK REQUIREMENTS
- Availability to work shifts, be on-call, and respond to emergencies as required.
- Willingness to utilize personal protective equipment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
MINIMUM EDUCATION: High school diploma.
JOB-RELATED EXPERIENCE: Between three to five years of relevant experience.
Knowledge & Skills
- 3 to 5 years of experience in commercial door maintenance and repair.
- High school diploma along with trades training and certification is preferred.
- Ability to follow and effectively implement established processes and practices.
- Competence in maintaining and repairing mechanical and electrical systems related to doors and their hardware.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to address commercial door issues.
- Commitment to environmental, health, and safety standards while performing work.
- Excellent client-service orientation with a strong sense of urgency.
- Effective communication skills for data exchange, feedback, and clarification purposes.
Licenses and Certifications
- Certification from the Canadian Door Institute is considered an asset.
