Position Summary
We are seeking a Senior Contracts Officer to enhance our dynamic team in Mississauga, Ontario. This role reports directly to the Procurement and Contracts Manager and requires an individual capable of working autonomously while managing key responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Project Manager and Client to formulate and revise appropriate contract terms and structures tailored to specific project scopes.
- Ensure that all contract management activities adhere to the highest ethical standards and quality benchmarks.
- Maintain compliance with project contracting and management plans, ensuring deliverables are met within established timelines and quality standards.
- Adhere to established procedures, standards, and policies.
- Contribute to the development of operational procedures and standards.
- Provide expert advice in designated areas of specialization.
- Assist in resolving claims and disputes with contractors to ensure efficient contract closure.
- Lead the contracts team from an operational standpoint.
- Act as the representative for the project team on all contract-related matters.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in law or a related discipline.
- Extensive knowledge of contract management, arbitration, construction law, claims, and project close-out processes.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in contract management.
- Practical experience in preparing and negotiating complex technical contracts within the EPC project lifecycle, particularly in Mining, Oil and Gas, Refinery, or Petrochemical sectors.
- Ability to work independently with a high degree of accuracy and quality in deliverables.
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with colleagues, clients, and contractors.
- Demonstrated expertise in contract management within the industry.
- Comprehensive understanding of contract management standards and model terms.
- Proven ability to achieve high standards within budgetary and scheduling constraints.
