Position Summary
We are seeking a Senior Contracts Officer to enhance our team in Mississauga, Ontario. This role involves significant independence and responsibility, reporting directly to the Procurement and Contracts Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Project Manager and Client to develop and refine appropriate contract terms and structures tailored to specific project scopes.
- Ensure that all contract management activities adhere to the highest standards of quality, ethics, and business practices.
- Monitor compliance with project contracting and management plans, ensuring deliverables are met within set timelines and to high standards.
- Adhere to established procedures, standards, and policies.
- Contribute to the development of operational procedures and standards.
- Provide expert advice in designated areas of contract management.
- Assist in resolving claims and disputes with contractors, ensuring timely closure of contracts.
- Lead the contracts team from an operational standpoint.
- Act as the representative for the project team on all contract-related matters.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in law or a related discipline.
- Extensive knowledge of contract management, arbitration, construction law, claims, and project lifecycle management.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in contract management.
- Practical experience in drafting and negotiating complex technical contracts, particularly in the Mining, Oil and Gas, and Petrochemical sectors.
- Ability to work independently with a high degree of accuracy and quality in deliverables.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with colleagues, clients, and contractors.
- Demonstrated expertise in contract management practices within the industry.
- In-depth understanding of contract management standards and terms.
- Proven ability to maintain high standards within budget and schedule constraints.
