The Opportunity - Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Program Manager, Full-time, Permanent

Purpose of Position

Reporting to the Chief People and Culture Officer (CPCO), the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Program Manager will advance Olds College's commitment to creating an inclusive, respectful, and healthy workplace and learning environment. This role is pivotal in fostering a diverse and highly engaged workforce and cultivating an inclusive organizational culture through the management and oversight of key equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  1. The EDI Program Manager designs and executes campus-wide initiatives that promote diversity, support equity, enhance inclusion, facilitate indigenization, and advocate for psychological safety to enrich the employee and student experience at Olds College.
  2. The Program Manager applies an equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) perspective to existing and new programs, services, policies, and procedures, aiming to weave diversity and inclusion into everyday practices.
  3. The Program Manager serves as a subject matter expert and internal consultant to leadership on all matters related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  4. Building and nurturing constructive relationships is a significant expectation for this role.
  5. The EDI Program Manager will carry out their responsibilities with a high degree of autonomy, integrity, and professionalism.
Manage EDI Initiatives and Project Execution
  • Develop comprehensive project plans for all short- and mid-term initiatives, including events, activities, training schedules, timelines, resources, and evaluation metrics.
  • Collaborate across the People and Culture Department and other areas of the organization to effectively implement strategies.
  • Continuously communicate deadlines, requirements, and progress to key stakeholders.
  • Create processes, documentation, and communications to support ongoing projects.
Employee Relations
  • Work with leadership to assist in the formulation of EDI plans that align with institutional priorities.
  • Provide interpretative and consultative services to managers and employees regarding human resources and EDI policies and procedures.
  • Assist with research and provide background information and recommendations related to employee and labor relations for EDI topics.
EDI Committees and Activities
  • Facilitate and support the execution of events, workshops, and programs that promote EDI.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with the EDI Committee, employee resource groups (ERG), and student resource groups (SRG).
Support for People and Culture and College Initiatives
  • Play a key role in the design and implementation of diversity and inclusion-related HR programs and processes.
  • Develop and implement processes, resources, and tools that foster a culturally safe working and learning environment.
Communications
  • Provide thoughtful input and develop communications targeted at employees.
  • Collect, analyze, and report on EDI-related data.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business/Management, Social Sciences, Cultural Studies, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, including project management in inclusion, diversity, equity, or accessibility.
  • Experience in a unionized environment and/or post-secondary institution.
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills.
  • Strong project management and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to conduct research, analyze, and interpret information and data.
