About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Fitness Instructor to join our team at the City of Calgary. As a Fitness Instructor, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality fitness programs to older adults in our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and lead registered and drop-in fitness programs for older adults.
  • Teach specific skills to participants through progressive physical fitness development and sharing of knowledge.
  • Assess participant needs and provide adaptations as necessary to ensure a safe and inclusive environment.
  • Maintain a high degree of customer service and ensure the overall satisfaction of program participants.
  • Prepare and maintain equipment, supplies, and program space to ensure a safe and effective learning environment.
  • Maintain program records and assist with program evaluation to inform future program development.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • Current Older Adult Fitness Instructor Certification from Fitness Alberta (or equivalent Older Adult exercise certification, YMCA, CanFitPro).
  • Older Adult Certification must be through a Provincial or National organization.
  • Level 2 Fitness Instructors must have at least 3 years of leadership and instructional experience.
  • Previous experience with AHS Move 'n Mingle or other fall prevention programs is considered an asset.
  • Previous experience with Older Adult fitness instruction is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability in assessing participant needs and determining adaptations as necessary.
  • Strong communication skills along with demonstrated initiative, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Sound judgment in safety standards and well-developed customer service skills.
