The Opportunity
Reporting to the Academic Chair, Life Sciences Portfolio, the Instructor will be responsible for instruction in labs, classes and in clinical settings. Some hours will be pre-scheduled for the entire semester while other hours may be on short notice to meet program operations. You are a Registered Respiratory Therapist interested in a rewarding career in education. The Role
  • Participate in lab, classroom and practicum instruction and assessments
  • Evaluate student progress and achievement
  • Provide ongoing support, guidance and advice to learners
  • Review and revise course outlines and curriculum
  • Prepare additional study and lab materials for learners
  • Provide high-quality education to students in the clinical setting
  • Facilitate assessment of competency-based objectives for students
  • Facilitate accreditation requirements
  • Attend required program meetings to contribute to the quality improvement processes and implement quality improvement recommendations
  • Promote and support SAIT's and Health and Public Safety's goals and mission statements
  • Perform related duties as assigned
Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum
  • 2 - 5 years' work experience in a variety of clinical areas.
  • Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CRTA).
  • Preferred
  • Health or Education related Degree an asset.
  • Current experience working in a Calgary area hospital respiratory therapy department an asset.
  • Membership with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT) is beneficial.
  • Previous teaching experience an asset.
Skills
  • Aptitude for mentoring and coaching others.
  • Comfortable with public speaking, and able to convey course information to diverse students and learning styles.
  • Possess a positive, respectful attitude, and a high commitment to student success and collaboration.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated computer skills are essential. Basic level proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
