EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Compassion Canada is in pursuit of a distinguished fundraising leader possessing exceptional planning, analytical, and interpersonal capabilities to fill the role of Senior Director of Fundraising Engagement.

The Senior Director of Fundraising Engagement will oversee all collaborative efforts with individual benefactors to further Compassion Canada's global philanthropic goals. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, enhancing, and diversifying strategic partnerships with individuals to achieve significant outcomes benefiting children, families, and communities worldwide.

This position will lead strategic initiatives aimed at engaging benefactors, partners, and supporters in Compassion Canada's mission, utilizing outstanding communication skills to create compelling narratives that resonate with the values of supporters and motivate them to take action. Whether it involves crafting innovative fundraising strategies, nurturing relationships with major benefactors, or establishing partnerships with foundations, this role is pivotal in propelling the organization's growth and impact.

As a member of the Partner Relations Leadership Team, this position reports directly to the Chief Programs & Partnerships Officer and collaborates with a team of directors responsible for leadership and oversight of the departments.

  5. Have a solid understanding of the non-profit sector and Canada Revenue Agency fundraising regulations and guidelines.
  6. Are forward-thinking with a demonstrated ability to envision and implement innovative strategies, identify opportunities, and develop comprehensive fundraising plans that align with the organization's objectives.
  7. Show the ability to inspire and empower the team, donors, and supporters by effectively communicating the organization's vision, values, and impact; fostering a sense of purpose and commitment among stakeholders.
  8. Are adept at collaborating successfully with internal teams and external partners to leverage collective strengths and resources in support of fundraising initiatives.
  9. Have a proven track record of soliciting and securing six and seven figure donations from individual benefactors, corporations, grants, and similar sources.
  10. Possess working knowledge of giving and donor trends within Canada, with a keen interest in discovering new and creative methods to expand Compassion's donor base.
  11. Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects and effectively prioritize activities.
  12. Have significant experience in developing and leading a similar department, utilizing a variety of donation efforts, campaigns, and methods.
  13. Exhibit proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Office365), and have experience with customer relationship management and database/reporting software.
  14. Are willing and able to travel frequently nationally, and internationally, on occasion.
  15. Are fluent in the English language.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Post-secondary education and/or professional designation in fundraising or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. CFRE certification is strongly preferred.
7+ years of proven experience leading a philanthropy team with experience in securing six and seven figure gifts, and annual team fundraising targets exceeding $10 million.
Existing relationships and a positive reputation in the not-for-profit fundraising sector are strong assets.
Continuous learning credentials in the area of expertise are advantageous.
Fluency in French is an asset.

Location: Remote in Canada

Salary Range: $105,000 – $115,000
