About the Role:

The University of Toronto is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Chef, Catering and Events to join our team. As a key member of the Culinary Management Team, you will be responsible for leading the culinary operations at the Chestnut Conference Centre and providing exceptional food and beverage services to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement menus that meet the needs of our diverse client base, including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and cultural options.
  • Manage the procurement of food and beverages, ensuring high-quality products and services are provided.
  • Lead a team of culinary staff, providing training, mentorship, and guidance to ensure excellent customer service and high-quality food preparation.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Culinary Operations and the Director, Catering and Events to achieve strategic goals and objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, as well as food service standards and regulations.

Requirements:

  • Certified Red Seal Chef qualification or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • University degree in business, hospitality, or a related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in managing large, unionized conference centres and off-site food and beverage operations.
  • Advanced knowledge of food and beverage management, human resources, and leadership principles.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
