Position Overview

As a Clinical Laboratory Specialist II within the Core Laboratory Services, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality laboratory testing and support. Your expertise will contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of laboratory operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct advanced laboratory procedures while also managing routine tasks across various laboratory sections, adhering to established protocols.
  • Collect and process specimens from both inpatients and outpatients as necessary.
  • Perform routine maintenance on laboratory equipment and promptly report any malfunctions to the appropriate supervisory personnel.
  • Handle all clerical duties related to laboratory procedures and compile necessary statistical data.
  • Ensure compliance with quality control standards and communicate any issues to the supervisory team as they arise.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace to promote safety and efficiency.
  • Assist in the training and orientation of new staff members.
  • Carry out additional related responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited Medical Technology program with at least one year of relevant experience. Certification from the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) is required.

  • Proficient in operating laboratory equipment.
  • Physical capability to perform the duties associated with the role.
  • Commitment to fostering reconciliation and understanding of Indigenous Peoples' rights and histories.
  • Knowledge of the socio-economic and historical contexts affecting Indigenous communities is considered a significant asset.
