Job Summary:

We are looking for candidates who are willing to relocate to our operational areas.

Responsibilities:

Conducts technical assessments of non-certified equipment within their area of expertise. Verifies that products comply with technical specifications and are devoid of potential fire and shock hazards, making decisions based on field evaluations and testing protocols. Demonstrates technical proficiency in evaluating all products, including innovative and unique items, with support from other technical personnel as needed. Engages with clients professionally to arrange inspection appointments, clarify costing procedures, respond to inquiries, and provide technical guidance based on the scope of the evaluation program. Reviews submitted technical documentation for assessment. Prepares detailed technical reports outlining necessary modifications for non-compliant equipment and discusses corrective actions with clients. Conducts research on technical and procedural matters, including standards and guidelines, collaborating with Engineering, Lab, and colleagues regarding procedural interpretations and historical practices. Provides mentorship to less experienced Special Inspection Representatives by elucidating CSA requirements, sharing information, answering queries, and accompanying them on inspections for hands-on training. Performs evaluations on emerging technologies and complex product categories, possessing the authority to make significant technical decisions. Participates in the SI Technical Committee alongside other technical staff, engaging in comprehensive research, requirement evaluations, and documentation of procedures in departmental guidelines. Interacts with regulatory authorities as necessary.

Education & Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related Sciences with 6 years of relevant industry experience; Engineering Technology or Associate's Degree with 8 years of relevant experience; or a Journeyman Electrician with 6 years of relevant experience; or a related technical field with over 10 years of relevant experience. Certification or laboratory testing experience is preferred. Familiarity with laboratory instrumentation and general laboratory procedures is essential.

Skills:

Ability to manage multiple inspection projects and adapt to changing schedules and deadlines with minimal supervision. Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and test data necessary for fulfilling assigned responsibilities. Strong interpersonal abilities; self-motivated; effective decision-making and organizational skills. Excellent conflict resolution skills to navigate challenging situations. Proficient in computer applications (word processing, email). Skilled in using calibrated measurement instruments, high voltage testing equipment, and hand tools.
