Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare background work related to licence production and amendments;
  • Plan and conduct routine, follow-up, and investigative inspections of specimen collection centres and medical laboratory facilities;
  • Evaluate procedures and equipment to ensure compliance with regulations;
  • Conduct research and prepare scientific and technical reports;
  • Update and implement operational procedures and policies;
  • Act as subject matter expert and provide advice on technical matters and licensing issues.
Requirements Mandatory
  • Active registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO) without conditions;
  • Valid driver's license for travel in Ontario.
Technical Knowledge
  • Knowledge of medical laboratory operations, including current tests, procedures, equipment, documentation, and record keeping practices;
  • Knowledge of the LSCCLA Act and its regulations;
  • Knowledge of the Ontario Schedule of Benefits for Laboratory Services, biosafety protocols, and relevant legislation and guidelines.
Communication Skills
  • Effective communication with staff, senior management, hospital administrators, physicians, and the public;
  • Preparation and presentation of technical reports and briefings;
  • Writing of briefing notes, correspondences, and documents.
Research, Analysis, and Investigative Skills
  • Conducting research on scientific and licensing issues;
  • Estimating and reviewing costs for inspections and other licensing charges.
Computer Skills
  • Using laboratory data processing applications, MS Access, Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint, and analytical systems.
