Job Summary

Sinai Health is a leading academic health science centre with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality patient care. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Technologist - Quality Assurance Specialist to join our team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive quality management program for the department, ensuring compliance with all accreditation and licensing requirements.
  • Coordinate the review and maintenance of the laboratory manual, ensuring that all sections are reviewed at least once a year and that printed, electronic, and web versions are up-to-date.
  • Provide leadership and guidance for quality assurance and accreditation activities, including the design and maintenance of the Total QC module and the training of staff in data entry and verification of QC records.
  • Supervise the QC bench technologist and provide training as required, ensuring that all QC records are completed and that staff are educated on the quality management system.
  • Coordinate Quality Assurance Committee meetings, prepare agendas, schedule meetings, complete minutes, and follow up on action items.
  • Lead the Quality Improvement Team to identify quality indicators and perform audits, and participate in inter-departmental and external quality management teams.
  • Compile and present quality reports at Quality Management Committee and other meetings as required.
Requirements
  • Current registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario in microbiology.
  • Evidence of progressive professional development, including additional degrees, certifications, or credentials.
  • Clinical Quality Management Certificate required (or willingness to obtain within the probationary period).
  • A minimum of 5 years' recent experience in a clinical microbiology department.
  • Experience with regulatory assessments, operational document writing, and document control processes.
  • Strong initiative, project management, and time management skills.
  • Proven computer skills in Microsoft Office software and Soft LIS.
  • Proven skills in data mining, data analysis, and report writing.
  • Effective verbal and written communication, team building, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to coach and direct staff, with a demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance record.
