Job Summary:

We are looking for candidates who are open to relocating to London or Windsor, Ontario.

Key Responsibilities:

Conducts thorough technical assessments of non-certified equipment within their area of expertise. Ensures that products comply with technical specifications and are devoid of potential fire and shock hazards, making decisions based on field evaluations and testing. Demonstrates technical proficiency in evaluating all products, including innovative and unique items, with support from other technical personnel as needed. Engages with clients professionally to arrange inspection appointments, clarify costing procedures, address inquiries, and provide technical guidance based on the Field Evaluation program's scope. Reviews submitted technical drawings for assessment. Prepares detailed technical reports outlining necessary modifications for sub-standard equipment and discusses corrective actions with clients. Conducts research on technical and procedural matters, including standards and guidelines, while collaborating with Engineering, Lab, and colleagues regarding procedural issues and interpretations. Provides mentorship and training to less experienced Special Inspection Representatives by explaining CSA requirements and guiding them through inspections. Performs inspections on emerging technologies and complex product types, holding the authority to make significant technical decisions. Participates in the SI Technical Committee alongside the SI TA and other Level II SIRs, which involves in-depth research, requirement evaluations, and documentation of procedures in departmental Technotes. Interacts with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) as necessary.

Education & Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related Sciences with 6 years of industry-related experience; Engineering Technology or Associate's Degree with 8 years of industry-related experience; or a Journeyman Electrician with 6 years of industry-related experience; or a related technical field with over 10 years of industry-related experience. Certification or Lab Testing experience is preferred. Familiarity with laboratory instrumentation and general laboratory procedures is essential.

Skills:

Capable of managing multiple inspection files and adapting to changing schedules and deadlines with minimal supervision. Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and test data necessary for fulfilling assigned responsibilities. Strong interpersonal skills; self-motivated; effective decision-making and organizational abilities. Excellent conflict resolution skills to navigate challenging situations. Proficient in computer applications (word processing, email). Skilled in using calibrated measurement instruments, high voltage testing equipment, and hand tools.
