Inorganic Laboratory Team Leader

As part of our dedicated management team, the Inorganic Laboratory Team Leader will oversee all facets of inorganic laboratory operations, ensuring excellence in analysis, staff management, and cost efficiency.

Role Overview

This is a full-time, on-site position that requires a proactive approach to managing laboratory activities. The Team Leader will be responsible for:

  • Scheduling personnel to maintain optimal coverage while managing costs effectively.
  • Collaborating with management to conduct interviews, onboard new team members, and address performance-related issues.
  • Managing human resources functions, including recruitment, performance assessments, and employee relations.
  • Coordinating training initiatives to enhance team capabilities.
  • Conducting annual performance evaluations in partnership with management.
  • Maintaining inventory levels of laboratory supplies to support seamless operations.
  • Ensuring adherence to maintenance schedules for laboratory equipment.
  • Compiling and presenting production reports to the Laboratory Manager.
  • Upholding ALS quality management system standards within the department.
  • Performing thorough data reviews and analyses.
  • Ensuring compliance with methodologies and accreditation standards.
  • Participating in audits and promptly addressing any identified issues.
  • Leading regular safety and quality discussions with the team.
  • Continuously evaluating and improving laboratory procedures.
  • Collaborating with other departments to resolve client inquiries and service issues.
  • Adhering to established safety protocols and ALS health policies.
  • Undertaking additional responsibilities as assigned.

Candidate Profile

  • Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to manage escalations and urgent situations effectively.
  • Proven problem-solving skills with a focus on creativity and integrity.
  • Orientation towards continuous improvement in processes.
  • Capability to present information clearly and engagingly.
  • High motivation and initiative, with a collaborative team spirit.
  • Excellent customer service and organizational skills.

Qualifications Required

  • Degree in Chemistry or a related discipline.
  • At least 6 years of experience with analytical chemistry instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with ISO/IEC 17025 or similar laboratory standards.
  • Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in a laboratory environment.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and MS Word.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Capability to stand for extended periods.
  • Proficiency in performing desk-based tasks.
  • Manual dexterity for repetitive tasks.
