The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority is seeking a highly skilled Genetic Counselor to join our laboratory team. As a Genetic Counselor, you will provide critical information and technical support to clients, laboratory staff, and healthcare providers.
Key Responsibilities- Triage patient specimens and coordinate out-of-province testing requests
- Track specimens, results, and reports
- Provide counseling and technical support to clients and healthcare providers
- Collaborate with laboratory staff to ensure efficient and effective specimen processing
- Master of Science degree in Genetics or Master of Science/Master of Arts in Genetic Counselling
- Board eligible or board certified by the Canadian Association of Genetic Counsellors (CAGC) and/or the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC)
- Specialized knowledge of clinical genetics and laboratory molecular genetics, cytogenetics, and genomics
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team
- Exposure to all hazards and dangers incumbent in working in an office and laboratory setting
- Ability to work under pressure and competing demands and deadlines
