Position Overview:

At Aecon, we are committed to delivering projects with efficiency and safety. As a leader in the utility construction sector, we are seeking a dedicated GIS Technician specializing in Network X. This role focuses on drafting within GIS-centric software and ensuring quality control of communication network designs and drawings for our diverse clientele.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft and conduct quality assurance on drawings within the Network X / GCOMM environment.
  • Implement quality control measures to uphold the integrity of documents and electronic records.
  • Identify opportunities for enhancements in processes, systems, and technologies.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to foster strong relationships across various disciplines.
  • Establish and uphold service standards for our clients.

Required Knowledge & Experience:

  • Experience with Network X or Bentley GCOMM is preferred.
  • A minimum of one year in communications Outside Plant Engineering Drafting/Design.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, splicing sequences, and technical reports.
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Visio.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to proofread documents effectively.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to take appropriate action.
  • A college diploma or certificate in Civil Engineering Technology or Geographic Information Systems is preferred.
