The University Health Network is seeking a highly skilled Radiation Safety Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Radiation Safety Office, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of our patients, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare technical reports on radiation safety, including shielding reports, dose reconstruction, and environmental assessments.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with radiation safety regulations and policies.
- Investigate and report on radiation safety incidents.
- Provide radiation protection information to staff in radiation work areas.
- Act as a contact for internal radiation matters.
- Manage a comprehensive electronic database of radiation safety activities.
- Provide technical services as needed.
- Bachelor of Science in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g. Health Physics, Medical Physics, Radiation Biology).
- Minimum two years of recent, related professional operational radiation safety experience.
- Previous experience as a Nuclear Energy Worker or x-ray worker is an asset.
- Nuclear Medicine or Radiation Therapy related education is an asset.
- Knowledge of the Nuclear Safety and Control Act and regulations, Transportation of Dangerous Goods Acts and its regulations.
- Ontario x-ray safety regulations is an asset.
- Experience working in healthcare and a teaching hospital environment is an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal, report writing, and communication skills.
- Excellent problem recognition and problem-solving skills.
- Effective organizational and time management skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuing education.
- Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, and database applications.
