Position Overview:

The Academic Operations Specialist plays a pivotal role in enhancing the operational efficiency of academic programs. This position is designed to provide strategic insights and actionable recommendations based on comprehensive data analysis and industry best practices.

Reporting directly to the Director of Academic Operations, this role collaborates closely with Associate Deans and various central departments, including Finance and Space Planning, to facilitate informed decision-making in areas such as strategic enrollment, resource allocation, and budget management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting thorough analysis and synthesis of diverse information sources to formulate sustainable and actionable recommendations.
  • Providing expert advice and consultation on the development of operational strategies.
  • Leading and managing resource allocation processes.
  • Collaborating within the team to implement consistent operational principles and strategies.
  • Working alongside academic program leaders to devise effective operational strategies.
  • Assisting in the planning and execution of strategic enrollment initiatives.
  • Partnering with Space Planning teams to ensure alignment in capital resource management.
  • Contributing to the ongoing development and maintenance of critical operational pathways.
  • Coordinating with Program Chairs and administrative staff to streamline operational workflows.
  • Monitoring operational progress and making necessary adjustments to plans.
  • Supporting the administrative and resource aspects of program development.
  • Acting as a subject matter expert in Academic Operations, aiding in the launch of new academic programs through market research and feasibility studies.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficient understanding of methodologies related to the development of academic operational strategies.
  • Familiarity with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Competence in data analysis techniques and tools (e.g., Excel, SPSS, Tableau).
  • Knowledge of operational and project management practices.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to foster and maintain professional relationships.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

Qualifications:

  • A relevant post-secondary diploma (e.g., Business).
  • A minimum of three years of related experience.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Additional Information:

This position is governed by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement.

Compensation: $71, $95,372.94 annually, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
