The Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) is seeking an exceptional leader to serve as their inaugural Associate Vice-President, Academic Quality & Operational Excellence.
About NAIT
NAIT is a leading post-secondary institution in Alberta, Canada, known for its hands-on, technology-based education and applied research. With a strong focus on industry partnerships and community engagement, NAIT delivers exceptional talent and critical innovation to drive economic growth and prosperity.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic academic and administrative leadership to achieve the Academic Plan and The NAIT Effect objectives.
- Contribute to the overall leadership of the Institute through participation in the development of academic and business plans, academic strategy, financial plans, and performance objectives.
- Set the strategic direction and provide key services for the academic portfolio in program quality, academic foundations, academic operations, and the office of apprenticeship.
- Drive and advance relationships with other institutes to create and collaborate on partnership initiatives.
- Drive and advance effective relationships with local, regional, and provincial governments to advance the portfolio's initiatives.
Accountabilities
- Provide visionary leadership to the portfolio to cultivate a culture of innovation in operational excellence and sound academic quality practices.
- Advance collaborative relationships across NAIT to achieve consistency and equitability in support for students and internal partners.
- Maintain oversight for centralized services and setting strategic direction within the portfolio.
- Develop and manage the portfolio's overall budget and provide strategic oversight of portfolio administrative functions.
- Provide mentorship and leadership guidance to others as part of succession planning.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree, graduate degree preferred.
- Recent experience in a senior leadership role within a complex organization leading a large, high-functioning team.
- Leadership experience within an academic institution.
- Equivalent sum of relevant education and experience considered.
- International and national travel may be required, and extended working days are required during peak periods.
