Job Summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Residential Counsellor to join our team in providing support to individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health challenges. As a Residential Counsellor, you will play a vital role in creating a safe and supportive environment for our residents, promoting their independence, and empowering them to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized support to residents, including personal care, hygiene, and advocacy.
  • Develop and implement individual support plans, ensuring residents' needs are met and goals are achieved.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, colleagues, and community members to ensure comprehensive support for residents.
  • Administer medications and maintain accurate records.
  • Ensure a clean and safe living environment, adhering to health and safety protocols.
  • Provide orientation and support to new staff, students, and volunteers.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • Completed 2-3 year Developmental Services Worker Diploma or equivalent degree/diploma in human services.
  • Valid Standard First Aid Certificate and CPR Level C Certificate.
  • Ability to achieve Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certificate.
  • Valid Ontario Class G Driver's License and satisfactory driver's abstract.
  • Minimum 6 months to 1 year experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health challenges.
