Position Title: Part-Time Residential Counsellor, Overnight Awake

We are on the lookout for a compassionate Part-Time Residential Counsellor, Overnight Awake to join our dedicated team in Toronto, Ontario. In this position, you will collaborate with colleagues to design and execute programs that foster personal growth, independence, and community involvement for our residents.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Facilitating residents' personal growth through tailored support planning
  • Remaining alert and engaged throughout the entire shift
  • Documenting activities and maintaining accurate records
  • Administering medications as required
  • Creating educational opportunities using community resources
  • Overseeing meal preparation and cleanup
  • Ensuring cleanliness and adherence to safety protocols
  • Providing assistance to colleagues, students, volunteers, and family members
  • Advocating for the agency's program objectives and philosophy
  • Performing additional duties as assigned

Qualifications and Educational Background:

  • Developmental Services Worker Diploma or equivalent qualification
  • Certification in Standard First Aid and CPR
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification
  • Valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's License
  • Experience in working with individuals with developmental disabilities

Experience and Expertise:

  • At least 6 months to 1 year of experience in the field of developmental disabilities
  • Familiarity with Individual Support Planning and medication administration

Skills and Attributes:

  • Proficient counselling and de-escalation skills
  • Completion of required training programs
  • Willingness to undergo background checks
  • Alignment with The Salvation Army's mission and values
