About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to become a vital part of our team at Lightspeed. Our mission is to develop innovative software solutions that empower merchants to enhance their business growth and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

You will collaborate with a dedicated team focused on various critical aspects, including:

  • Cloud infrastructure management
  • Reliability and incident response
  • Data analytics and warehousing
  • Cost efficiency and transparency

Your role will involve:

  • Designing and maintaining multi-region infrastructures and networks.
  • Ensuring our products operate reliably, efficiently, and securely by applying established DevOps methodologies.
  • Building robust infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) using cloud-native technologies such as GKE, Cloud SQL, and BigQuery.
  • Developing and overseeing CI/CD pipelines for streamlined deployment and release processes utilizing tools like GitLab, GitHub, Helm, and Terraform.
Collaboration and Support

You will work closely with development teams to:

  • Provide tools and practices for monitoring software performance in production.
  • Define and measure reliability metrics (SLI, SLO) and manage error budgets effectively.

Additionally, you will:

  • Support the incident management process and conduct thorough post-mortem analyses to mitigate future issues.
  • Mentor junior SREs and developers, sharing best practices in cloud architecture, data management, and software development.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation to ensure continuous service availability.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Approximately 6+ years of experience in site reliability engineering, systems administration, or software engineering.
  • Familiarity with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases.
  • Knowledge of network protocols and IP networking, along with experience in troubleshooting network issues.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Bash, Python, or Go.
  • Experience with monitoring tools to ensure system health and performance.

Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies, advocating for the adoption of innovative practices to enhance product quality and team efficiency.
