Position Overview

Join Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) as a Healthcare Unit Coordinator. Staff housing may be an option.

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a Healthcare Unit Coordinator to support the Intensive Care Unit. Become a vital part of our dedicated team.

Responsibilities of the Healthcare Unit Coordinator at Vancouver Coastal Health include:

Collaborating within a team-oriented environment to perform clerical and receptionist tasks that facilitate the delivery of patient care. Prioritizing the needs of clients and their families above all other responsibilities. Executing a range of clerical functions such as: transcribing and processing physician orders, liaising with various departments to coordinate patient appointments and transport, arranging diagnostic tests and managing results, welcoming visitors, answering phone inquiries, and managing requests effectively. Organizing and maintaining patient records, as well as coordinating admissions and discharges. Handling timekeeping responsibilities and compiling relevant statistics. Typing and distributing various technical and non-technical documents and reports. Managing inventory of office supplies and ensuring filing systems are up to date.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Completion of Grade 12, knowledge of medical terminology, and graduation from an accredited Nursing Unit Clerk program, along with one year of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and training.

Skills & Competencies

Proficient verbal and written communication skills. Ability to interact effectively with others. Physical capability to perform the duties associated with the role. Typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute. Strong organizational skills. Familiarity with operating relevant equipment. Competence in utilizing various computer software applications.

Additional Information

Work hours, including days off and work areas, may vary based on operational needs. Successful candidates may need to undergo a Criminal Records Review Check.

As per current health regulations, all employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have received the most recent vaccine dose. Proof of vaccination will be required.
