Service: You will provide personalized, one-on-one assistance to clients in their residences

Role Overview:

As a Community Care Companion, your primary responsibility will be to ensure that the seniors you assist do not experience feelings of loneliness or isolation. You will facilitate daily living activities, which may include light cleaning, meal preparation, and engaging in social interactions. The care plan will be customized to align with the unique interests and requirements of each client.

Note: Hours are not guaranteed and will be scheduled on an as-needed basis.

Compensation: $17.85 per hour

Position Details:

  • Casual employment
  • Potential for full-time hours
  • Availability for a minimum of 10 hours per week is required

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide emotional support and non-medical services that enhance the quality of life for seniors
  • Assist with meal preparation, laundry, changing bed linens, and light cleaning tasks
  • Engage seniors in tailored activities
  • Accompany seniors to appointments or grocery shopping (transportation will be arranged)

Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to connect and support seniors – prior caregiving experience is advantageous
  • Effective communication skills, adaptable, and able to manage shifting priorities
  • Capable of independently resolving sensitive issues
  • Commitment to maintaining client confidentiality
  • Must own a smartphone and be comfortable using applications
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety practices is essential
  • Compliance with provincial infectious disease screening and immunization requirements
  • Valid G class driver's license and automobile insurance
  • Familiarity with resources in the retirement industry is a plus
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and perform physical tasks such as walking, sitting, standing, bending, and reaching
  • Availability for a minimum of 10 hours per week is required
