Job Title: Project Lead, Environment

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Project Lead to join our Environment and Climate Division at the City of Toronto. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in advancing our Net Zero Existing Buildings Strategy and supporting the development of Emission Performance Standards policy and by-law.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research on climate action planning, climate resilience, adaptation, building decarbonization, and low-carbon building technologies.
  • Identify developments within the field, including initiatives by other levels of government, municipalities, and organizations.
  • Participate in program planning, developing long-range divisional objectives, and ensuring effective relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Act as a resource person for communications, inquiries, and technical questions related to divisional activities and programs.
  • Prepare reports and status updates for senior management, undertaking program evaluations, and making recommendations for ongoing program enhancements.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in Environmental Studies/Science, Building Science, Engineering, Public/Policy Administration, Urban Planning, or a relevant discipline.
  • Considerable experience in planning, managing, and delivering multi-stakeholder environment, climate change, decarbonization, and/or resilience-focused research, policy development, and program design projects.
  • Experience in the design and delivery of public engagement and consultation programs.
  • Knowledge of low-carbon building practices and building energy retrofits is considered an asset.
