About the Role

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a skilled Nurse Practitioner to join our team at Alberta Health Services. As a Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and support to individuals and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and education.
  • Integrate clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to manage and meet the health needs of patients.
  • Utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership, and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality and promote appropriate use of health services.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide patient-centered care and support.
  • Participate in education, research, and leadership activities to enhance palliative care standards and contribute to the development of healthcare systems.
Requirements
  • Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program and a minimum of master's degree.
  • Registration with CRNA on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar, including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience as a NP.
  • Minimum 1 year of clinical experience managing palliative care clients (within the last 3 years) in an advance practice role.
  • Minimum 1 year of Seniors Health experience.
  • Experience in at least two (2) care sectors, including Home Care.
  • Advanced clinical & assessment skills.
  • Competent with MS Office Suite, TEAMs, ZOOM, and tele-health knowledge.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and access to a motor vehicle in good repair for work-related travel.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CNA Certification in Palliative Care.
  • McMasters Case Management Education.
  • Meditech and Connect Care Trained.
  • Previous experience in leadership role.
  • Experience in program planning, education of adults, interdisciplinary practice, and research activities.
