Your Opportunity:
The Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner (PCNP) is an autonomous healthcare provider who oversees, delivers, and assesses patient care utilizing advanced nursing and medical management expertise. The PCNP applies a comprehensive range of nursing knowledge, skills, and judgment, undertaking responsibilities that extend beyond traditional Registered Nursing practice. This role is essential within the Palliative/End of Life Care framework, merging the functions of practitioner, educator, consultant, leader, and researcher through collaborative clinical practice, nursing staff development, and research initiatives.
The primary focus of this position is to provide timely and effective clinical consultative care to patients within the palliative care demographic across diverse environments, including community settings, rural areas, continuing care, and acute care facilities. The PCNP plays a pivotal role in enhancing palliative care proficiency among the interdisciplinary healthcare team through direct mentorship.
The PCNP will spearhead the evolution of interdisciplinary clinical practices in palliative care, which includes the development, implementation, and assessment of educational programs, participation in working groups, and involvement in research projects pertinent to Palliative Care. This role necessitates travel within designated zones.
In addition to a competitive compensation package, Alberta Health Services offers a Remote Retention Allowance, with an annual cap of $3,000, which is non-pensionable and disbursed on an hourly basis for all hours compensated at the standard rate.
Description:
As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will deliver a comprehensive array of health services to individuals throughout their lifespan. Your responsibilities will encompass the integration of clinical competencies associated with both nursing and medicine to evaluate, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic assessments, prescribe treatments, and execute procedures to address and fulfill the health requirements of patients.
Moreover, you will leverage advanced practice nursing capabilities related to Clinical Practice, Leadership, Health Systems Optimization, Education, and Research to enhance care quality, encourage the judicious use of health services, and influence healthcare systems effectively.
Required Qualifications:
Successful completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program and a minimum of a master's degree. Registration with CRNA on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar, including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Preferred qualifications include CNA Certification in Palliative Care, McMasters Case Management Education, and training in Meditech and Connect Care. Previous experience in a leadership capacity, along with experience in program planning, adult education, interdisciplinary collaboration, and research activities, is also advantageous.
