Opportunity Overview:

As a Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner, you will have the opportunity to make a profound impact on patients and their families by combining your clinical expertise with your passion for teaching, mentoring, and leading. You will be responsible for enhancing patient care across diverse settings, including community, rural, continuing, and acute care, while supporting both patients and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan, integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients.
  • Utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems.
  • Participate in mentoring and leading a team of healthcare professionals, elevating palliative care standards, and contributing through education, research, and leadership.

Requirements:

  • Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program and a minimum of master's degree.
  • Registration with CRNA on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CNA Certification in Palliative Care.
  • McMasters Case Management Education.
  • Meditech and Connect Care Trained.
  • Previous experience in leadership role.
  • Experience in program planning, education of adults, interdisciplinary practice, and research activities.
