Job Description

As a key member of our team at Tangerine, you will play a critical role in the management and administration of our Middleware and UNIX systems. This is an exciting opportunity to leverage your technical expertise and leadership skills to drive business success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Capacity Planning and Strategic Goals: Collaborate with end-users and the IT Leadership team to develop and implement long-term strategic goals for Middleware and UNIX systems.
  • System Implementation and Maintenance: Coordinate with architecture, network infrastructure, software development, IT service delivery, and database administration functions to implement UNIX and Middleware systems that meet corporate objectives.
  • Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity: Develop, recommend, and implement a regular maintenance schedule for UNIX Operating Systems and all related hardware, and be accountable for Disaster Recovery Planning (DRP)/Business Continuity Planning (BCP) initiatives & test coordination for all managed systems.
  • Problem and Incident Management: Manage problem & incident management and resolution of all managed systems, ensuring timely response to queries, resolution of problems, and reporting/escalation of issues related to the systems.
  • Compliance and Regulatory: Ensure all systems under administration are compliant with policies, standards, licensing agreements, configuration guidelines, and best-practices for maintaining regulatory compliance.
  • Technical Support and Service Level Agreements: Provide efficient, high-quality technical support services, including creating & managing production service level agreements and objectives.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Lead, coach, and develop teams, and conduct regular performance assessments, aligning with Tangerine's values.
Requirements
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Possess excellent communication (verbal/written/presentation) skills to convey/present technical information & ideas in user-friendly language to both technical and non-technical audiences, and good interpersonal skills to build relationships with internal and external business partners and vendors.
  • Technical Experience: Have at least 7+ years of hands-on technical working experience in various areas of enterprise server support, maintenance, and administration, and at least 3+ years of technical leadership experience with demonstrated success in implementing continuous improvement & strategic initiatives.
  • Middleware and UNIX Systems Administration: Have demonstrated technical working experience in administering & managing Middleware (e.g., IBM Websphere and/or IBM MQ) systems, and at least 10+ years of hands-on technical working experience with AIX systems administration.
  • Education and Certifications: Completion of a post-secondary education in Computer Science, Engineering or in a related technology-based stream.
