Role Summary

We are seeking a Specialist to enhance our expanding Commercial Group Solutions division.

This role offers a hybrid work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the strategic development of products to meet growth objectives.
  • Establish guidelines and manage the referral process to enhance performance and underwriting.
  • Collect market insights by engaging with distribution channels, brokers, and clients, comparing our offerings with competitors.
  • Investigate technology-driven solutions for pricing, underwriting, risk evaluation, and loss prevention.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to identify new growth and profitability avenues through technical research and relationship management.
  • Assist in managing the portfolio by implementing governance best practices and conducting profitability and growth analyses.
  • Conduct technical underwriting audits.
  • Communicate updates regarding underwriting guidelines and new product offerings.
  • Provide underwriting training and lend expertise to colleagues and distribution underwriters.
  • Be responsible for assigned accounts, making decisions to accept, reject, endorse, renew, or cancel policies in accordance with underwriting guidelines and regulations.
  • Utilize negotiation skills to maintain positive relationships within and outside the organization.
  • Inform stakeholders about changes in product pricing, underwriting guidelines, and new offerings.

Qualifications:

  • University degree or college diploma, or a combination of relevant education and experience.
  • 8 to 10 years of pertinent experience.
  • Highly organized with the ability to pursue goals while adapting to a dynamic environment.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of persuading and challenging others effectively.
  • Ability to interact respectfully with individuals at all organizational levels.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and collaboratively with national teams.
  • Proficient analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
  • Capable of working under tight deadlines, demonstrating excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • High integrity, confidentiality, and accountability.
  • Digital and data literacy, understanding how these elements enhance customer and underwriter experiences.
  • CIP designation is required; FCIP and/or CRM designations are advantageous.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally.
  • No prior Canadian work experience is necessary, but eligibility to work in Canada is required.
