Position Overview

The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) serves as the primary liaison, delivering comprehensive HR services to both leaders and employees. The HRBP engages with clients, providing coaching and education on HR-related matters, while offering strategic consultation and support for various HR initiatives, including labor relations, talent management, succession planning, performance management, and employee engagement.

Collaborating closely with the Manager of Talent and Business Partners, the HRBP utilizes a deep understanding of the business to work alongside the HR team in developing and implementing effective HR solutions and programs that align with organizational strategies and priorities. Acting as a champion for company culture and employee experience, the HRBP maintains a consistent focus on enhancing talent and leadership capabilities to support both short-term and long-term strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a partner and advocate for employees, aligning business strategies with HR services and solutions. Collaborate with the HRBP Manager and local management to ensure the right talent is in place to achieve business objectives.
  • Facilitate the execution of cyclical HR programs, including performance management and talent succession planning. Provide coaching and support to managers in the performance management process.
  • Enhance compliance with legislated programs and policies, identifying opportunities for improvement and developing effective solutions.
  • Support the cultivation of a strong organizational culture and enhance employee engagement through various initiatives.
  • Assist in resolving HR-related issues through effective conflict management techniques.
  • Identify change management challenges and develop strategies to address them.
  • Analyze HR metrics to assist in identifying trends and developing improvement strategies.
  • Collaborate with team leaders and union representatives to improve relations and reduce grievances.
  • Participate in union meetings and advise management on employee-related issues.
  • Maintain a network of contacts to stay informed on industry trends and best practices in HR.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources Management, organizational studies, labor relations, or business administration, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Chartered Professional in Human Resources designation or Human Resources Management Certificate is a strong asset.
  • 5 to 8 years of relevant HR experience, with a focus on generalist functions.
  • Experience in a unionized environment is highly desirable, particularly in grievance handling and contract negotiations.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Solid understanding of employment legislation and HR best practices.
  • Experience utilizing data and analytics to inform recommendations.
  • Ability to navigate and influence diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Adaptability in the face of ambiguity and uncertainty.
  • Strong capability to assess the impact of decisions.

Additional Information

The candidate must be open to travel to remote sites, with site visits typically lasting between 4 to 7 days. Compliance with site-specific policies is mandatory during these visits.
