Role Summary:
The HR Business Partner plays a crucial role in delivering strategic HR guidance to the leadership team and business units. This position involves developing tailored people solutions that align with the company's strategic objectives while adhering to the overarching HR strategy of Colas Western Canada Inc. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in HR, demonstrating exceptional relationship-building skills and a commitment to enhancing the employee experience.
Strategic HR Support:
- Collaborate with senior management to align HR initiatives with the company's strategic goals.
- Implement annual HR objectives and initiatives that support business priorities.
- Assess workforce needs and organizational requirements through various analytical processes.
Workforce Planning:
- Partner with division leaders to develop strategic and annual workforce plans.
- Translate business needs into actionable workforce strategies for short, medium, and long-term planning.
- Proactively update job profiles and recruitment strategies for upcoming roles.
Talent Acquisition:
- Align recruitment efforts with workforce plans to ensure effective talent sourcing.
- Oversee the recruitment and selection process, fostering relationships with educational institutions.
Onboarding and Integration:
- Design and implement programs for the seamless integration of new talent.
- Facilitate orientation sessions for seasonal workforce integration.
Development Initiatives:
- Coordinate employee development programs, including performance and talent management.
- Analyze performance reviews to identify high potentials and development needs.
- Support leadership in managing performance evaluation processes.
Retention and Engagement:
- Plan and execute the annual employee engagement survey.
- Develop action plans to enhance employee engagement based on survey results.
- Collaborate on retention strategies to strengthen the company’s position as an employer of choice.
Labour Relations:
- Assist in managing relationships with labor unions and participate in collective bargaining.
- Engage in labor relations meetings and procedures as required.
Work Environment:
- Support the HR team with best practices and policy interpretation.
- Facilitate investigations to manage legal liabilities effectively.
Change Management:
- Proactively adapt HR delivery to support business changes.
- Identify and implement best practices across business units.
Corporate Governance:
- Ensure compliance with legal and contractual obligations.
- Monitor adherence to company policies and ethical standards.
- A degree or diploma in Business Administration or Human Resources; CPHR designation preferred.
- 7+ years of HR experience, with at least 5 years in a generalist role.
- Experience in a unionized environment with strong labor relations skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems.
- Ability to influence and collaborate with diverse management teams.
- Strong work ethic, resilience, and results-oriented mindset.
- Knowledge of labor relations and employment legislation.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
