About the Role

As a Strategic HR Business Partner, you will serve as a trusted advisor to Finning's leadership team, providing expert guidance and support on all aspects of human resources. You will play a vital role in shaping our organizational culture and driving business success through strategic talent management initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Business Partnership & Customer Service: Collaborate closely with senior leaders to develop and implement workforce planning strategies, succession plans, and leadership development programs. Partner with global HR Centers of Excellence to ensure alignment between HR initiatives and business objectives.
  • Labor Relations & Employee Relations: Provide expert guidance to managers on the interpretation and application of collective agreements and corporate policies. Facilitate investigations, manage disciplinary actions, and address employee relations concerns effectively.
  • Organizational Effectiveness: Partner with client groups to design succession plans for key talent, identify training and development needs, and support career development initiatives. Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the organization.
  • HR Programs & Initiatives: Provide direction and guidance on the execution of annual HR programs, including compensation planning, performance management, and talent reviews. Identify opportunities for employee engagement and communication.
Skills & Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends and patterns of behavior.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills at all levels.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing investigations.
  • In-depth knowledge of labor and employment laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems (Workday experience is an asset).
Education & Experience

A post-secondary education in human resources management, labor relations management, or a related field is required. 5+ years of professional-level human resource generalist experience working collaboratively with business leaders is essential.
