In this pivotal role, the Chief Medical Officer for Hospitalist Services will report directly to the Zone Medical Executive Director and collaborate closely with an Administrative Co-Lead. This position is essential for steering strategic and operational initiatives while providing exemplary leadership within the medical department.

The Chief Medical Officer is entrusted with the clinical oversight of patient care within the hospitalist services, which includes managing the scheduling of medical personnel and ensuring adequate clinical coverage. It is imperative that all department members adhere to the policies and regulations set forth by the organization.

The responsibilities of the Chief Medical Officer include:
# Overseeing the administrative operations of the department, which involves conducting regular meetings and supplying the Zone Medical Executive Director with detailed minutes;
# Collaborating with Hospitalist Site Leads and operational leaders to maintain service continuity and achieve key patient flow objectives, including the management of scheduling practices;
# Actively participating in the Zone Medical Advisory Committee (ZMAC) to provide insights on the quality of care delivered to patients;
# Engaging in the development, monitoring, and execution of departmental objectives, resource allocation, and budgeting;
# Making informed recommendations regarding physician staffing needs within the department, in consultation with relevant leadership;

# Organizing and executing clinical and educational activities within the department, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities;
# Partnering with co-leadership to enhance patient access and flow, particularly in community hospitals;
# Attending Access and Flow Network Council meetings to contribute local insights and participate in strategic planning;
# Upholding professional standards and implementing quality assurance measures within the department;
# Addressing and resolving interpersonal issues among medical staff, including managing complaints and disciplinary actions;
# Participating in committee meetings as designated by the Medical Executive Director;
# Collaborating with the administrative director for strategic planning and budget management;
# Monitoring and evaluating the performance of medical staff, addressing any identified issues;
# Conducting annual performance reviews for department members and providing necessary management support;
# Coordinating the education of medical students and residents within the department;
# Engaging in clinical service planning for the organization;
# Working with leadership to support recruitment and retention efforts for the department;
# A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a medical department role, with a focus on engaging and empowering teams.
