Overview:
The Chief Medical Staff Officer is a pivotal role within the Yukon Hospital Corporation, responsible for steering the strategic direction of our healthcare services. This position reports directly to the Executive Director of People, Quality & Strategy and is integral to the formulation of policies, program development, and the enhancement of quality improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative leaders to ensure the provision of safe, high-quality healthcare.
  • Oversee continuous quality improvement efforts and enhance patient experiences.
  • Implement effective risk management strategies and uphold robust health and safety practices.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies, ethical standards, and strategic planning.

Qualifications:
  • Extensive knowledge of healthcare systems, medical disciplines, and public sector management.
  • Proficient understanding of quality and safety standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Experience in human resources practices, performance management, and contract administration.
  • Expertise in quality assurance principles, risk management processes, and health and safety regulations.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Strong skills in quality improvement and change management.
  • Proven ability to lead and implement evidence-based quality assurance initiatives.
  • Experience in developing strategic plans through comprehensive analysis and goal-setting.

Interpersonal Skills:
The ideal candidate will possess exceptional interpersonal skills, demonstrating the ability to lead a diverse team and navigate complex power dynamics. A politically astute, self-aware, and self-managed individual is essential for this role.

Experience:
A minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience in a health-related capacity, with a strong background in clinical operations and quality assurance initiatives, alongside 5 years of leadership experience in progressively responsible roles within complex environments.

Certifications:
Certification in quality management (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean) and/or safety management is preferred. Current registration with a recognized regulatory body and cultural safety training is also desirable.
