Position Overview

The City of Coquitlam is currently seeking a Human Resources Advisor for a temporary full-time role, anticipated to last approximately 15 months. This position is essential in supporting departmental managers and staff throughout the municipality, serving as a strategic partner in various HR functions including recruitment, collective agreement interpretation, attendance management, classifications, employee relations, and other critical aspects of the employee lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert guidance to departmental managers and staff on HR matters.
  • Collaborate closely with the Health and Safety team, Labour Relations team, and Organizational Development and Training team.
  • Assist in navigating complex HR scenarios in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of three to five years of relevant experience at the Coordinator or Advisor level.
  • An undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Commerce, or Human Resource Management.
  • A CPHR designation and experience in labour relations are considered assets.
  • Experience in a unionized or public sector work environment.
  • Proficiency in Applicant Tracking Systems, Peoplesoft, and other HR information systems.
  • Advanced skills in MS Office applications, particularly Word, Outlook, and Excel, as well as Adobe.
  • A strong understanding of recruitment practices in both unionized and excluded settings.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to solve problems effectively.
  • Strong political acumen and meticulous attention to detail.
  • The capacity to thrive in a dynamic and progressive work environment.
