The Salvation Army is seeking a dedicated Residential Support Worker to provide essential care and support to individuals within our residential program.

As a Residential Support Worker, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment for residents. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks, from assisting with daily living activities to providing emotional support and guidance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate actively in shift transitions to ensure seamless continuity of care.
  • Respond promptly to crisis line calls and conduct thorough telephone screenings.
  • Provide comprehensive orientation to new residents, helping them acclimate to the program and its expectations.
  • Maintain accurate records of shift activities and resident information through detailed logs.
  • Collaborate closely with Caseworkers to ensure the smooth operation of the program and the well-being of residents.
  • Assist with meal preparation, ensuring nutritious and appealing meals are provided for residents.
  • Provide immediate crisis intervention when necessary, de-escalating situations and promoting resident safety.
  • Effectively resolve conflicts that may arise within the residential setting, fostering a harmonious environment.
  • Conduct regular security checks to maintain the safety and security of the facility and its residents.
  • Familiarize yourself thoroughly with all policies and procedures governing the program.
  • Contribute to maintaining a clean and organized living space for residents.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:

Education/Certifications:

  • Possess a Social Services certificate, diploma, or degree.
  • Hold valid First Aid/CPR and FOODSAFE Level 1 certifications.

Experience:

  • Minimum of two years of experience working with individuals who have experienced domestic violence.
  • Proven experience in frontline social service roles.
  • Demonstrated expertise in assisting with domestic violence interventions.

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • A comprehensive understanding of the complexities surrounding domestic violence situations.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, enabling clear and effective interactions with residents, colleagues, and external agencies.
  • Strong collaboration skills, fostering positive relationships with various agencies involved in resident support.
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Completion of Nonviolent Conflict Intervention training.

Preferred Skills/Capabilities:

  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, demonstrating cultural sensitivity and understanding.
  • Advanced conflict resolution skills, enabling the peaceful and constructive resolution of interpersonal disputes.
