Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Residential Child Care Specialist to join our team at WJS Canada. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing support and care to individuals in our residential program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, set goals, and evaluate progress of individuals in our care.
  • Teach daily routines and activities to promote social skills and independence.
  • Monitor and ensure the safety and well-being of individuals, utilizing practices that promote health, welfare, and security.
  • Provide behavior management counseling and emotional support to individuals.
  • Communicate effectively with program staff, families, and community stakeholders.
  • Administer medications and maintain accurate records.
  • Participate in OHS Committee and perform miscellaneous job-related duties.
Requirements
  • Child and Youth Care Degree or Diploma, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Minimum two years of recent related experience in child and youth care or a related field.
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License and clean driver's abstract.
  • Valid CPR/First Aid, WHMIS, and Food Hygiene and Sanitation certificates.
  • Non-Violent Physical Crisis Intervention Certificate (NVCI) and/or MANDT and Conflict Resolution Certificate.
  • Physician's note confirming suitability, including immunization records and a negative tuberculosis screening test.
