Your RoleAs a Residential Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in assisting clients in achieving their goals and living fulfilling lives. You will work closely with each individual, tailoring your approach to meet their unique needs and aspirations.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with clients to implement Individual Support Plans (ISPs), providing guidance and encouragement throughout the process.
- Provide comprehensive support for clients with complex behavioral, emotional, and social needs in both residential and community settings.
- Utilize de-escalation techniques to effectively manage challenging behaviors and create a safe and supportive environment.
- Assist clients in developing essential life skills within the home, including meal preparation, cleaning, and maintaining a healthy and safe living space.
- Model positive relationships and boundaries, fostering healthy interactions between clients and others.
- Transport clients to appointments and community activities, ensuring their safety and well-being throughout the journey.
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals with a passion for supporting others. The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Diploma or Degree in Child and Youth Care, Psychology, Social Work, Disability Studies, Sociology, Healthcare Aide, PSW, Practical Nursing, or an equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with adults, children, or youth in care settings, or individuals with developmental disabilities, mental health issues, or brain injuries.
- A valid BC Driver's Class 5 License and a clean driver's abstract.
- Positive behavior supports experience and Trauma-informed care knowledge are highly valued.
- Valid CPR/First Aid, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certificate (NVCI, Mandt or CPI), and Conflict Resolution Certificate (or the ability to obtain these within the probation period).
- A physician's note confirming suitability, including immunization records and a negative tuberculosis screening test.
