Our Defined Benefit Consulting team consists of highly skilled professionals nationwide, specializing in pension & savings and actuarial consulting. We focus on delivering strategic insights, expert analysis, and effective risk management to help our clients provide optimal pension plans for their members. Your contributions will make a significant impact:

We are in search of a talented and experienced Lead Actuarial Advisor to join our team. In this role, you will be essential in designing and overseeing defined benefit pension plans for our clients, ensuring their long-term viability while addressing the needs of both employers and employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Relationship Management: Cultivating and nurturing strong relationships with clients, managing all aspects of client service and account oversight, leading client meetings, serving as the primary contact and trusted advisor, understanding client needs, and devising proactive and innovative solutions.
  • Actuarial Consulting Services: Offering recommendations to enhance the strategic management of defined benefit pension plans, including plan design, valuation, risk management, regulatory compliance, employee education, and plan administration, while aligning with clients' long-term objectives.
  • Team Leadership: Fostering team engagement by mentoring and guiding junior team members, overseeing project delivery, and managing scope, quality, fees, budgets, and timelines.
  • External Market Presence: Enhancing visibility within the industry by delivering presentations at conferences or workshops on relevant topics related to retirement plans and pension risk management.
  • Business Development: Identifying and cultivating new business opportunities, ensuring the continued growth of existing clients, and supporting RFPs, finalist presentations, and marketing materials to drive lead generation.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in defined benefit pension plan consulting.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of pension legislation and actuarial standards, including plan valuation, financial projections, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proven ability to build relationships with senior-level client stakeholders and influence decision-making.
  • Collaborative team player with a commitment to mentoring junior colleagues.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects concurrently.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • A degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional actuarial designations: fully qualified FCIA or nearing qualification.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French.
