Job Summary

We are seeking a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to join our team at Schlegel Villages. As an RPN, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care to our residents, working collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to understand their individual needs, and advocating for residents to actively participate in decisions about their care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Have existing Heart Save Level of CPR.
  • Deliver safe administration of medication and treatments with a focus on accuracy, quality, and meeting our residents' quality of life requests.
  • Follow plans of care (or service plans) in accordance with the standards of the College of Nurses and able to identify and report any changes in the resident's well-being to the Charge Nurse or Village leadership team.
  • Support and embrace our resident-centred social culture and be proud to deliver the highest quality of personal care to our residents.
  • Work as a key member of our Village and Neighbourhood multidisciplinary team to understand residents' individual needs, and advocate for residents to actively participate in decisions about their care.
  • Collaborate with the Neighbourhood Physician during weekly rounds and update care plans and directions accordingly.
  • Have proficient communication and computer skills in order to update care plans in the current system.
  • Understand the physical, mental, and emotional demands of the RPN role.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MDS credentials.
  • Experience working with people living with Dementia.
  • Knowledge of the palliative assessments scale.
  • Comfortable supporting residents and their families during end of life care.
  • Knowledge of relevant policies, procedures, legislation, regulations, and best practices applicable to the retirement and long-term care sector (e.g. RAI processes and CIHI, supplies, equipment ordering, etc.).
