Position Overview
As an experienced leader in construction, your expertise in natural gas infrastructure is unparalleled. Your commitment to safety is paramount, ensuring that all operational decisions prioritize the well-being of your team and the community. In the role of Operations Supervisor, you will oversee the Kootenay region, managing a skilled team to address daily operational demands, capital construction initiatives, service installations, maintenance, and emergency response protocols. Your primary focus will be on maintaining safety standards and the integrity of assets within your jurisdiction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of unionized personnel to fulfill daily operational requirements and project commitments.
- Become proficient with scheduling software and applications to ensure timely and budget-compliant deliverables.
- Collaborate with internal resources to maintain optimal staffing levels.
- Oversee contracted services in alignment with established agreements.
- Engage in the recruitment process to select new team members through an inclusive approach.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to enhance team performance and facilitate ongoing training and development.
- Leverage your field experience and technical knowledge to address work-related challenges.
- Conduct site visits to ensure quality oversight and compliance with industry standards and service agreements.
- Foster a safe and healthy work environment for your team and stakeholders.
- Implement safety procedures, including Site Safe Work Planning.
- Distribute safety resources and personal protective equipment as needed.
- Participate in incident investigations to promote a culture of safety.
- Utilize financial acumen to manage budgets, third-party contracts, and internal service agreements.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders, customers, contractors, and municipal agencies.
- Promote a safety-first culture to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Collaborate with peers to develop strategic initiatives aimed at operational excellence.
- A minimum of five years of management experience in natural gas infrastructure; a post-secondary diploma is an asset.
- Experience in construction, underground utilities, and emergency response is preferred.
- A strong commitment to developing quality solutions with a focus on safety.
- A collaborative approach to fostering workplace connections.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel.
