**About the Opportunity**

Entuitive is seeking a highly motivated and entrepreneurial Senior Structural Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Special Projects team, you will work on small and medium projects, assisting in maintaining a high level of service for the structural practice. You will also be responsible for growing our Special Projects team in Ottawa by working closely with the business development team and Entuitive's other special projects teams.

**About Special Projects**

The Special Projects groups at Entuitive focus on small to medium projects of varying degrees of complexity, requiring skills that span many areas of structural engineering. Special project work often involves adding to or modifying existing buildings or working with design teams to provide structural design for unique bespoke requirements. The design work crosses all structural materials and building types and often involves understanding and working with antiquated structural systems or working with limited information on the existing structural system.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Attend client meetings from initial conception throughout the entire project
  • Develop internal project budgets and generate fee proposals
  • Review in-progress works on construction sites for compliance to issued documents
  • Attend construction progress meetings to provide consultation and updates to the project team
  • Pursue special projects growth opportunities by attending client meetings, events, and business development opportunities to grow your network
  • Be responsible for the financial performance of projects, including monitoring of internal project costs and review of monthly invoicing to ensure budgets are maintained
  • Mentor and train junior staff in technical aspects of structural design and practical aspects of project delivery

**Requirements**

  • A degree in civil engineering with a focus on structural engineering
  • Experience in business development and writing proposals
  • Experience in structural design and/or construction engineering for buildings
  • Working with existing facilities is considered an asset
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work with people at all levels, including project stakeholders and clients
  • Working knowledge of construction materials and products used in building construction, with a focus on concrete, steel, wood, and masonry, as well as historical materials and structural systems
  • Working knowledge and ability to use various programs, such as SAP, SAFE, Woodworks, Bluebeam, and Hilti Profis
  • A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle is required
  • Knowledge and interest related to embodied carbon is considered an asset
