Job Summary:

The Page is responsible for performing various duties related to the physical maintenance of the library collections, including shelving, conducting inventory, and pulling specified items for holds or withdrawal. The successful candidate will also be responsible for setting up rooms for programs and undertaking minor cleaning of public areas and equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Sort, shelve, and shelf read library materials, run and reconcile request pull lists, and trace reports.
  • Pull library materials identified for weeding, as instructed, and process withdrawn materials, maintaining the branch book sale area.
  • Conduct inventory of collections.
  • Empty bins and book drops, pack, and label outgoing bins.
  • Set up rooms for programs.
  • Perform minor cleaning of public areas and equipment, replenish paper supply in copiers and printers.
  • Answer or direct patron queries where appropriate.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 10 education.
  • Ability to organize materials following numerical and alphabetical sequences.
  • Physically fit and able to perform the requirements of the position.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver consistent, high-quality customer service.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with the public and staff and to work as a member of a team.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to assume responsibility and work independently with a minimum of direct supervision.
