About Our Opportunity

The Government of Nova Scotia is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Administrative Assistant to join our team at the Nova Scotia Youth Centre in Waterville. As a key member of our administrative team, you will provide a full range of administrative and clerical support to ensure the smooth operation of our facility.

Primary Accountabilities

  • Drafting correspondence and reports
  • Coordinating meetings and events
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records and files
  • Providing excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders
  • Performing various administrative tasks, including mail sorting and distribution, photocopying, and maintaining office equipment
  • Assisting with sentence calculations and maintaining facility petty cash
  • Preparing confidential information and uploading data onto our database
  • Providing backup support for leave entry and other administrative tasks

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this opportunity, you must have a 1-year course in a relevant field, such as business or administration, and 3 or more years of administrative experience. You must also possess excellent interpersonal, communication, and team collaboration skills, as well as the ability to work independently and make sound judgments.

Working Conditions

This is a permanent, full-time position based in Waterville, NS. You will work primarily in an office environment, with occasional exposure to sensitive and confidential information. You must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
