Job Summary

The Government of Nunavut is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Early Childhood Officer to join our team. As a key member of our Early Childhood Development team, you will play a critical role in the delivery of early childhood programs and services across Nunavut.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Delivery: Oversee the quality of care for children by inspecting, licensing, and providing support and guidance to early childhood programs.
  • Community Engagement: Promote awareness of early childhood issues within communities and support community-based non-profit organizations to plan, develop, and deliver quality early childhood education and care programs.
  • Policy Development: Work with stakeholders and partners to identify opportunities to increase the availability and affordability of childcare in Nunavut.
  • Facility Inspections: Conduct early childhood facility inspections, including review of registration documents, policies, and records.
  • Complaint Investigation: Investigate complaints about facilities and programs and take action as required.
Requirements
  • Education: A recognized Diploma in Early Childhood Education or a degree in Early Childhood Education or in Education with a focus on early childhood development.
  • Experience: Three (3) years of applicable administrative or early childhood education experience.
  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work in a northern cross-cultural environment, and fluency in one of Nunavut's official languages (Inuktut, English, or French).
