Role Overview:
The Accounting Manager will oversee the daily operations of financial accounting, taxation, and accounts payable functions, including the guidance and development of internal team members. This position involves active participation in the financial closing process, preparation of financial reports, and conducting various audits. The manager will also engage in business initiatives aimed at enhancing processes, upgrading systems, and launching new products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervision & Support: Oversee and assist with all financial accounting and accounts payable functions. Review outputs from internal staff and external vendors, including account analyses, reconciliations, and related journal entries. Ensure timely and accurate completion of all tasks in line with company policies.
  • Financial Closing Involvement: Engage in monthly and quarterly financial closing activities, providing insights into significant variances in operating expenses prior to the close. Manage deliverables to headquarters on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Audit Coordination: Serve as the primary liaison for both internal and external audit engagements. This includes supplying necessary support and data, as well as coordinating cross-departmental assistance for annual and quarterly audits.
  • Project Engagement: Participate in various initiatives, including process enhancements, system upgrades, and product launches. Assist in the development, testing, and implementation of system improvements and upgrades. Help formulate, execute, and maintain accounting policies and procedures.
  • Team Development: Responsible for mentoring and developing staff, fostering cross-training opportunities. Collaborate with team members to implement process improvement suggestions and enhance their business and system knowledge. Undertake additional responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:

  • Comprehensive technical accounting expertise with a solid understanding of IFRS and ICFR.
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in accounting, auditing, and taxation, ideally within the financial services sector.

Education & Credentials:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • CPA, CA designation is mandatory.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Proficient in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and other relevant software.
  • Strong analytical, presentation, communication, and organizational abilities.
  • Effective leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills with the capacity to manage multiple priorities.
  • Robust problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Ability to establish credibility with both internal operations and external clients, regardless of their technical background.
  • Extensive knowledge of IT systems, including the ability to design data extraction queries and assist in system specification design for new or existing products.
  • Demonstrated integrity, strong work ethic, self-motivation, and high energy levels.
  • Innovative, adaptable, and open to change.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced business environment.
