Position Overview

We are looking for a dedicated permanent part-time (0.64 FTE) Mental Health Community Support Specialist to be part of our Mental Health Substance Use department.

Compensation:

The salary range for this role is $31.56 to $33.28 per hour.

Key Responsibilities:

This role will provide support for injectable opioid agonist treatment (iOAT) services.

iOAT is a proven treatment method for individuals with severe opioid use disorder (OUD) who have not responded to oral opioid agonist therapy (OAT).

Injectable treatments have shown to improve retention in care, reduce illicit opioid use, and enhance quality of life.

This service requires that doses be administered in a structured, supervised clinical environment, ensuring sterile supplies and safe conditions, under the guidance of qualified staff trained to manage emergencies.

The successful candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary team that offers comprehensive care, including primary health care, mental health support, and psychosocial services such as housing and employment assistance.


The Mental Health Community Support Specialist will collaborate within the Hospitals & Communities Integrated Services (HCIS) healthcare team, focusing on providing timely, evidence-based psychosocial rehabilitation for individuals facing severe mental health challenges and/or substance use disorders.

Shifts will include rotating days and evenings from 13:30 to 20:30 hours.

Qualifications:

Education, Training, and Experience:
  • High School Diploma
  • Diploma in a relevant field
  • Two years of recent experience working with clients facing mental health and/or substance use challenges; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Valid B.C. Driver's License
